"What's up, Doc?" might be the question on this hoary marmot's
tongue as he regards a summer visitor to his Donnelly Dome home. Normally
a little more shy, this one is undoubtedly thinking that the photographer just
might have some kind of handout. Photo by David Johnson.

Local entrepreneur Mike Rawalt has been making and selling trailers now for several years. Recently, Mike hit on the idea of bringing a long load of trailers and parts North on his specially built hex axle trailer. Mike drove this rig up from Oregon. He said the main cost was hiring pilot cars required by the Canadian government for 235 somewhat sharp turns on the Alaska highway so that oncoming motorists would not be run off the road. The weigh stations in Canada were also a little difficult as Mike had to circle the scales three times in order to get the total weight for his permits. He said he had only one near-miss, and that with a bus of German tourists. Mike thinks the driver got caught up in counting the wheels over and under the long trailer, but suffered only a very long black paint mark on the edge of the bus.
Happy April Fools day! By Mike Rawalt and David Johnson.

Troop 56 campout to Donna Lakes
Eight boys hiked 5-miles to Little Donna Lake using their map and compass skills to get there. They camped Friday night and caught several nice rainbow trout the following morning.
Heavy winds on Friday made hiking and setting up tents challenging but Saturday morning was an excellent day with temperatures reaching nearly 45 degrees.
Boys participating in the event were Steve Bealer, Ethan, Heath and Jake
Gebauer, Tony Tirrell, Charlie Herman, Ben Knix, and Martin Hosier. Also participating in the event were George Hosier, Randy
Bealer, and Vern Gebauer.
