Tangle Lakes Mining Meeting

Many Deltans use the Tangle Lakes and Rainbow Mountain area for recreation. Should a mine be located there, much of the area could be placed off-limits to snowmachines, four-wheelers, hunters, anglers, hikers and the like for the duration of the mine's existence. The natural beauty of the area could be compromised. The recent effort not to pursue making the Richardson Highway a Scenic Byway through this stretch, for example, was probably good news to those multinational corporations holding mining interests in this area.
