Photo of the Day - May 16
On the evening of May 15, this flock of snow geese were feeding on greening grass in the old Delta Elementary playground. Although snow geese are not rare in interior Alaska, they are uncommon, with an average of about 1 small flock seen per year in the Delta Junction area. These geese are enroute from southern California or the Gulf of Mexico states to the high arctic where they will nest. It’s amazing to think that after flying thousand’s of miles, they looked down at the green grass in this playground and decided to stop and feed.Photo Courtesy Steve DuBois
