Goobye Loretta - Written by Ruby Hollembaek
Goodbye Loretta
A woman of steel.
An honesty seldom found.
Hard work, dedication
And ready to go a’round.
She dreamed big
For our little town.
She made it her home.
Through its ups and downs.
With her ideas churning
A newspaper and staff
She developed and honed
Her literary craft.
She didn’t give up
On this sleepy little place.
She knew so many people
And never forgot a face.
If you stopped just a moment
You’d see a lady with a big heart
She was larger than life
And in Delta left her mark.
I hope that this town remembers
Loretta forever
She deserves our nod of approval
She distilled so much energy and
Forget her I will never.
Thank you for your minutes, hours, days and years
We can never repay you but I hope that you know.
We realize now Loretta that
It’s time to rest– you must go.
Thank you for all your years of hard work & love for our little Alaskan town.
May the good Lord bless you for all the time, energy & love you invested.
