Fort Greely School September newsletter

Dear Fort Greely School Parent,
The Fort Greely School parent newsletter is a tool I use to best communicate school events and happenings to our parents. This newsletter will cover events for the end of September into October. You should expect to receive another newsletter from me in approximately one month’s time. A copy of this letter is furnished to the Delta News Web, the Delta Wind, the IGA reader board, the school district website calendar, and to the Public Information Officer on Fort Greely.
Student Identification Cards (ID): Every Fort Greely School student was issued an ID card with a copy of their lunch balance barcode and library barcode. It has taken us some time and resources to make quality ID’s so we are asking for your support in ensuring your student carries their ID at all times. Those students who participate in the hot lunch program will be asked to present them to be scanned daily for accounting purposes. Students who forget their card will move to the back of the lunch line as a reminder that they need to carry their ID. Again, we ask for your support in making sure your student carries his or her ID at all times.
Demographic Form and Lunch Balance Letter: Included with this newsletter is a copy of your current demographic information form and a copy of your child’s lunch transaction balance. Please complete the demographic information form and return to our office as soon as possible. Any student with more than a five dollar deficit will not be able to charge a lunch until their deficit has been paid, effective Monday, September 18th. Students who have not cleared their deficit can either pay for lunches individually, or will be provided a snack, but again will not be able to charge a lunch.
Fort Greely School Basketball: Basketball season is upon us! The boys’ teams coaches this year will be Mr. Dave Becker and Mr. Sean Hogue, and the girls’ teams coach will be Ms. Megan Murphy. Interested students have been invited to a team meeting this week and will have reviewed expectations for participation in the boys’ and girls’ program. Practice starts on Monday, September 18th; students wishing to participate must first a have a current school physical and have paid the $75 sports participation fee. Students on free and reduced lunches can have the fee waived. Please contact me for more information on the waiver. A copy of the current basketball games will be posted on the DNW calendar.
Picture Day: Picture Day, hosted by LifeTouch Photography, will be on Tuesday, October 2nd. Package pricing information should be available at our front office within the next week. Students are encouraged to be in school that day looking their best. There will be a picture day retake a later date to be advertised.
Fall Band and Choir Concert: The Fort Greely School Band and Choir are preparing for their first concert to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17th. We are fortunate to have very large sections of band and choir, and the students are sounding wonderful! This is a great opportunity for all parents to come and see Fort Greely Students performing at their best. There will be a dessert reception following the concert for parents and students in the gym lobby.
If you ever have any questions regarding Fort Greely School Events, please feel free to contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Brian J. Schaffer
Principal, Fort Greely School
