Youth Football Day ~ September 9, 2006

Whereas, youth football was established in the fall of 2004 as an opportunity to provide an additional recreational outlet in the Delta-Greely area; and

Whereas, youth participation in sports activities is a proven fact in teaching healthy lifestyles and building character, confidence and competence to face life’s challenges; and

Whereas, participating youth spend many hours of practice to prepare for competition. Those are hours that demonstrate dedication and commitment of knowledge and skills and pride for self and teammates; and

Whereas, the community of Delta Junction supports involvement in football not only for the players that participate but their parents, family and community volunteers who promote and encourage the sport. We as parents and community leaders can never do enough for our youth so we need not make excuses if we have filled our children’s lives with positive experiences; and

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the value of football as a youth-building opportunity in our community.

Now, therefore, the City of Delta Junction hereby proclaims Saturday, September 9, 2006 as

Youth Football Day

… and encourages the community to come out and show support to our football players who are learning team cooperation, dedication, and sportsmanship.
