Military exercise to test Fort Greely's security measures starts Dec. 4
A military exercise called Vigilant Shield will take place on Fort Greely December 4-14. The exercise will allow Fort Greely to test its security measures.
About 120 soldiers from Fort Richardson will participate in the exercise and will be housed in the Fort Greely physical fitness center (gym) Dec. 5-8. The gym will be closed to the public those four days.
At various times, delays may occur at the front gate, and additional traffic can be expected. Drivers should ensure they have valid vehicle documents at all times, and all those entering the installation should be prepared to present entry documents.
Students, parents, and visitors should use extra care when walking and driving at this time. Traffic conditions may suddenly change due to the movement of military, emergency and fire vehicles. Greely School should not be otherwise affected by this exercise.
For more information, contact the Fort Greely public affairs officer, Mr. Leslie Ozawa, at 873-4604, or email.
