Deltana Borough Decision up to Voters
The Local Boundary Commission has determined that the proposal for The Deltana Borough does indeed meet all the legal requirements for local government in Alaska. After meeting at the Delta High School Gym last Friday and Saturday, the Commissioners unanimously agreed it was time to move on to the next step. A vote will be scheduled by the Division of Elections some time this summer. For all the details, click here

as a Delta Land owner, but former resident, I am curious to see how this vote plays out.
Does the Delta area have enough residents to support a burough? THat is one thing I am not sure about.
Initially I thought the borough was to be larger and include Tok and other towns.
What will you/we gain?
will there be paid emergency services now?
Or will all tax revenues go to pay for the new government and some left over for schools??
when this comes up for a vote, will people who own land on the good pasture river but don't live here be able to vote? does this include other areas as well, such as the clearwater where people have vacation places but live some where else.
Received a response from City Hall with the question that has been asked in the comments section on this community news item.
According to the Procedures for Borough Incorporation (Appendix B -Stage 4 in Final Report), the election will be 30 to 90 days after LBC notifies the Division of Elections, which is supposed to be immediately upon accepting the petition.

Response from City Hall:
No, vacation homes on the Goodpaster or Clearwater are not where people reside. They vote where they are registered, where they live.
