Poison in Pet Food Identified
A toxic substance called Aminopterin, which is used used kill rats in some countries outside (though not in the U.S.) , is the suspected cause of renal failure and subsequent death in more than a dozen pets across the country. Aminopterin is also used as a cancer drug, but any amount in pet food is "too much", according to scientists at the New York State Animal Health Diagnostic Center at Cornell.
