City Council to Repeal No Hunting Ordinance, Firearms Discharge Ordinance Off the Table

An ordinance prohibiting big game hunting in the city limits of Delta Junction is scheduled for repeal at this afternoon's city council meeting, according to the pre-published council agenda. The council had planned to introduce an ordinance for first reading tonight that would regulate the discharge of firearms in the city limits during certain seasons.

The council does not now intend to introduce that ordinance this afternoon, said City Clerk Pat White, wanting instead to hear more public discussion on the issue. White said that citizens interested in this issue are invited to address the council this afternoon. One person is already scheduled to speak.

The council will meet at 5 PM at City Hall at 2288 Deborah Street in downtown Delta.
