Fort Wainwright Aviators Died in Helicopter Crash in Iraq

FORT RICHARDSON, Alaska – Five Fort Wainwright aviators died in a helicopter crash in Iraq Tuesday.
The aviators, assigned to 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment, Task Force 49 based at Fort Wainwright, died Tuesday (Iraq and Alaska time) from injuries sustained in the crash which occurred in the vicinity of Al Taqaddum Air Base, Iraq.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
Next of kin have been notified.
