Kudos, Congratulations, Bouquets, and Showers of Confetti

Exclusive to Delta News Web

The ’07 Delta Fair is history, and the members of the Fair Board are probably exhausted, for following a most unfortunate late start they worked like Trojans to give to us a magnificent, successful, community oriented production. Their untiring efforts were aided and abetted by the weather, providing sunshine, moderate temperatures, and only a brief shower or two to settle the dust.

The jam-packed, non-stop, fun-filled, seamless schedule kept on keepin’ on for three days like the Energizer Bunny, with something for everyone except rest and respite for the Board Members and volunteer crew.

The usual vendors were in place, offering things we didn’t know we needed but suddenly couldn’t live without, usual and unusual culinary delicacies, information, services, and some new and interesting booths.

All of this was surrounded and enhanced by nearly non-stop music, as the First Annual Delta Music Festival took place concurrently, with the majority of the presenters being local musicians.

There were too many outstanding and remarkable events to list them all, but one that deserves mention is the Children’s Circus presented on Saturday afternoon. Ms Mimi Webb was the spark plug and coordinator for this production, funded by a grant from the Association of Alaska School Boards. The presentation was planned and executed by Ms Webb, her corps of volunteers, and her group of young people. What a magnificent, superb, community based effort. One can only imagine the hours of planning, prop, set and costume construction, scripting, logistics---but the result made it all worthwhile.

Another noteworthy contribution was made by Ms Emily Joslin, a young pianist who shone forth on the small stage Friday, again on Saturday on the large stage, and then assisted with the devotional on Sunday.

And of course one must not forget the contribution of Mr. and Mrs. Kingston, doing their usual sound technician service!

Available space prohibits recognition of many who deserve mention for their stellar efforts. The Delta Fair, now history, served well all who attended, and one can only hope for as entertaining a production in 2008. Thanx again, Fair Board of Directors, volunteer corps, coordinators, managers, and all who helped to make this a Smashing Success!
