On Saturday, the Delta Packers got their second win in a row, beating the Fairbanks Bears 26-6 at Delta High School. The offensive success of the Packers is due to the great offensive line of BJ Merrymon, Heather Yearty, Randle Kimball, Richard Gardner, Kristoff Webb, and Matt Fellman, who held the Bears at bay for most of the game.
Caleb and Chance McLaren both had big games Saturday, as the brothers accounted for 3 of the 4 touchdowns scored. Caleb scored on a 35yd run and threw a 42yd TD pass to Chance. Chance also scored on a 1yd run as well. Duone Ellington scored the last touchdown on a quarterback keep, putting the game out of reach for the Bears.
The defense again had a stellar performance, shutting the Bears down in the first half and only allowing one big play the entire game, giving the Bears their only touchdown.
The next game for the Packers is August 18th, when they travel to Fairbanks to play the Saints. Game time is 4pm behind the Big Dipper Ice Arena, so if you are in Fairbanks stop by and support Packers Football!!
