Post Notes Women's Equality Day
FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska – Soldiers, family members and civilian employees here will celebrate women’s right to vote in a special event to commemorate Women’s Equality Day Aug. 24 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Medical Activity-Alaska will lead the commemoration with a speaker, food and displays at Bassett Army Community Hospital.
Col. Elizabeth Mittelstaedt, dputy cmmander for Nursing at the hospital, will be the keynote speaker.
Women’s Equalaity Day was designated to commemorate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting women the right to vote.
